February marks the annual celebration of Black History Month, a time to reflect on the rich tapestry of achievements, struggles, and resilience of African Americans. As a Black physician and colorectal surgeon, I find this month particularly significant, offering an opportunity to not only celebrate the historical figures who paved the way for my success but also to raise awareness about the current state of diversity and inclusion within the medical field. The legacy of Blac
