An intern asked me once how long you're supposed to listen. A full minute was the easy half of her question. The other half was how long she was allowed to stay in the room.

An intern stopped me in a stairwell in November and asked how long a person stays this tired. Being tired doesn’t take what you know. It takes the walk back down the hall to somebody you already decided about, and you won’t feel it go.
